Strike a Pose

This is sort of a continuation of Push Yourself but I really wanted to delve deeper into it with an experience I had recently.
I won't go into much detail about what it was but I had a great opportunity to be a part of a photo shoot that was about health, fitness, family, and pushing through adversity. The main amazing thing about this was how many people were there at the shoot. Not just the people who were posing, or the make up artists and the photographer; but the support systems that came in with them was just phenomenal. It was such a great experience being surrounded by such a positive group and everyone that I came across was so encouraging. It was especially appreciated considering it was my first experience with anything in that area and I was nervous about the whole thing. But it turned out great!
I'm not going to lie though, I almost didn't go through with it because I had all of these fears and insecurities and thoughts about how it might go terrible, but I'm glad I pushed through. Fear is such a tricky thing to deal with because, for me, it completely paralyzes my body and I just want to curl up into a ball and stop everything. Thankfully the support system I have in my own personal world is amazing that even through the fear I was able to do something completely out of my comfort zone and I ended up loving it! Kind of ironic, no?
This was a big learning curve for me because through pushing myself to do something that I'm not comfortable with, I met new people, gained a new experience in a different area, and I learned a few things along the way!
The things I learned was:
1. I was more capable with my abilities than I ever gave myself credit for. This is not me trying to brag or be like, "wow look what I accomplished!" but this is me just trying to show that you are more capable than you think. You have more fight in you, you have more brains in you, and you have more confidence in you than you could ever imagine. So embrace it, and push yourself.
2. It was not at all what I expected. Going into a new situation, I usually have a lot of thoughts about it and how I think it's going to go, but sometimes it can surprise you and be the exact opposite! Was it all sunshine and roses? No because the day was a bit different and my thoughts kept getting in the way (lack of not being able to pig out made me a bit hangry); but it really helps when you have positive people around you to show you why you are doing what you are doing.
Also just a disclaimer- I'm not claiming I know everything, but I'm just here so that hopefully someone who needs a different look on life or is able to take even the smallest thing from it, they are able to realize they are not alone.
So just like in Push Yourself, I want to encourage you to do something small everyday that you wouldn't normally do! Try a new food, give a compliment to a stranger, eat a chocolate bar! It doesn't have to be this world changing thing that inspires everyone around you, but start small and build it up.
Thank you for reading my little rant. Have a great day and I will see you here next time!
Xoxo,
Callista
